This year, to say thank you to our customers for their continued support, we’re doing things a little bit differently at Cloud Business. Instead of chocolates and wine, we’re making a small difference by sponsoring animals at a local sanctuary.
Earlier this summer, our Managing Director James Butler became involved with The Secret Garden Sanctuary, who provide support for vulnerable adults and children. They were due to officially open this spring, but then Covid-19 hit and plans were put on hold. Most of this year’s fundraising events have been cancelled, making it hard to stay afloat.
The sanctuary is also home to some animal residents who are cared for by volunteers and visitors. In turn, these animals offer therapeutic benefits for people going through tough times. So this year Cloud Business is sponsoring on behalf of our customers a collection of pigs, goats, sheep, hens and even an emu. Our sponsorship will help towards feed, bedding, veterinary care and all the other things needed to keep the animals happy and healthy.
Here are some of the characters we are sponsoring:
Bean the Emu
Hatched during lockdown 2020 in the sanctuary’s incubator. He sadly recently lost his best friend Egg. He loves nothing more than showing off to visitors and the more you laugh the more he dances! But make sure he doesn’t catch sight of your earrings as he will steal them for sure.
Grape the Miracle Pig
Grape was very poorly 3 days after she arrived at the sanctuary and nearly died, but not only did she survive she also went on to have 12 beautiful babies (she arrived pregnant). She will great you with a snout poke and shout at you if you ignore her and loves nothing more than a belly rub.
Flossie the Sheep
Flossie thinks she’s a goat. She spends all day hanging with her best friends the goats. She was the sanctuary’s first rescue bottle fed baby and likes to follow visitors around, but be careful as she will steal your lunch.
Bambino (Flossie’s first born)
Bambino gives the best hugs and looks right at you when you talk to him. He will pester you for a head scratch and, like his mum, follows visitors around when they visit.
Jar Jar is an Anglo Nubian Goat. She bounces along and really struts around, she’s head goat. Her best friend is Flossie the Sheep.
Snuggles was rescued from a sausage farm! She’s flourished since then and loves to be gentle brushed while chatting away during her pampering.
Rosy Cheeks and her flock of girls
All the Red Girls come from commercial settings and have come to the end of their time as egg laying hens, usually by the time they are approximately 54 weeks. Rosy Cheeks and her girls literally paid for the majority of the sanctuary’s animal feed through lockdown with their eggs. This has been the main source of income for the sanctuary this year.
During 2021 we’ll keep you updated with news on this menagerie and other projects at the sanctuary.
All that leaves us to do is wish you and your families a very happy Christmas and a much better 2021. Seasons greetings from the Cloud Business team!
